First Female Entertainer Jumpsuit

The Challenge

Create a custom PBR Canada jumpsuit from scratch for a female entertainer under the following limitations:

• Using only measurements provided by the client

• Create a garment similar to an example provided by client via pictures

• Creating the jumpsuit in under 1 month without any jumpsuit fittings

• Creating the jumpsuit having no experience in making jumpsuits before

Our Solution

Design: A one-piece black/orange/white polyester stretch ripstop jumper

Features:

• Center front zipper

• Western-style flap pockets at chest

• Belt loops at waistline

• Elastic ankle cuffs

•  Custom orange and white stripe design inspired by TKC Trucking & Picker Service sponsor

• Entertainer's name across back yoke

• White fringe across back yoke

The Impact

• Jumpsuit successfully completed on time for PBR Canada event

• Good garment fitment for not having any previous fittings

• Delivered a fully functional garment conducive to the work of a physically active entertainer.

Why It Worked

• Flexible Fabric: Stretchy and durable ripstop fabric allowed the entertainer to move freely and comfortably.

•  Custom Fitment: Developing the jumpsuit using the entertainer's specific measurements rather than a generalized measurement chart resulted in a good fit.

Improvements

Given the short timeline for this project, there were several things we would have done differently:

Garment Fittings: While the jumpsuit fit well, it did fit tighter than we had intended. Having some extra time for fittings would have ensured the jumpsuit fit the exact way we envisioned it.

Name and Logo Placements: Something we did not consider was how the entertainer would be wearing her hair. Had we known she would be wearing her hair down, we would have placed her name and the sponsor logo elsewhere on the jumpsuit to guarantee they were seen. 

Practice and Research: We designed this garment having never made a jumpsuit before. Given that circumstance, this jumpsuit turned out exceptionally well. It could have turned out even better if we had a little more time for practice and research on the subject.
